About AAR

Analyzing American Revolution (AAR) is a scholarly interview series within the History Behind News (HbN) program, featuring in-depth, structured conversations with leading scholars of the American Revolution.

In AAR, 33 scholars approach the Revolutionary Era from distinct perspectives. Each interview is developed into a structured reference guide with a full transcript, timestamped outline and takeaways, and placement within thematic collections that connect individual interpretations within a broader historiographical framework.

What AAR Offers

Together, these conversations expand how we understand the American Revolution—its global context, its ideas, and its lasting impact, from the pre-Revolutionary era through post-Revolutionary America and into our own time.

In addition to our conversations with scholars, we bring the American Revolution to life with quizzes that test your Revolutionary IQ and images that tell the backstories and reveal how the Revolution has been portrayed through the ages.
